WELCOMING COMMITTEE
The Parish Council would like to take this opportunity to thank our ladies and gentlemen, who greet people at the beginning of each Mass. It is wonderful the way you welcome people to our church.
Your work has encouraged us to expand upon this ministry by forming an official "Welcoming Committee". The Council would like to invite others to join this small in numbers but big in heart group. The duties are simple and the work is satisfying.
If you are interested in becoming a member of this ministry, please contact the parish office.

MINISTRY OF COMPASSION
Our church has been invited to help ease the loneliness with men and women in prison. These individuals could use the reassurance of others that God loves them and that there are people in the world praying for them. A friendly letter of encouragement can make a huge difference in their lives.
If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Linda in the office.
Rest assured that all letters will be mailed from the church address and that your anonymity would be safeguarded. There are strict guidelines set up for these letters to make sure all parties involved will find this a rewarding experience.

ACSENSION
"Evangelization" is a new word for a centuries-old mandate in the Catholic Church. At His Ascension, Jesus commanded His disciples to carry out His mission when He said in what has become known as the Great Commission: All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. (Matthew 28; 19-20) Jesus was the first evangelizer. He is the "Good News" for us.
To evangelize, to make disciples, is the privilege and the duty of every Catholic. Every Christian, by virtue of Baptism, is called to collaborate with Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit in spreading the Good News. By our faith in Jesus Christ and our devotion to Him, we transform the world.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The Feast of Ascension is celebration of Jesus return to heaven 40 days after Easter. Jesus is God's Son; he has authority over all the earth. We have celebrated His birth, His Life, and Mourned His death. While on earth He taught us how to live our lives. Now He has returned to His Father in heaven.
Jesus did not leave us alone. He promised to be with us always. Today we remember His promise. We need to focus our attentions on what it means to be people of hope. As Christians we know that hope is what leads to God and our heavenly home. Joyful hope is a major part of being a faithful follower of Jesus.

O my God, relying on Your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen (Act of Hope)
