THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
God always has something to say to us whether our hearts are heavy or filled with joy. We need to be ready to hear the voice of God.
Saint Paul tells us that because we have been baptized into Christ Jesus, we should think of ourselves as dead to sin. However, sin has a way of sneaking back into our lives, but God's promises us forgiveness.
The prophet Elisha told the woman of Shunem that she would be rewarded for her hospitality to him. He said that God would grant her desire to bear a son. Her only desire was to be a vessel of life and of generous giving. This is kind of attitude toward life and behavior that Jesus demands of His disciples in today's Gospel. To find life, we must give ourselves to God. The reward is eternal life.
