Catholics. The dinner will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2005
at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL FUND
Did you go to a Catholic School? Then don't forget the Cardinal's
School Fund, established to help archdiocesan schools face financial
challenges.
The tax-deductible fund is seeking critical donations because increasing
costs jeopardize the future of many Catholic schools.
For more information, call (312) 751-05250 or visit www.archchicago.org.
BLACK CATHOLIC MEN'S CONFERENCE

LIFE CHAIN
Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 2nd from 2:30-3:30 PM. Life
Chains will again form along local streets across the United States
and Canada. Standing publicly, Christians will witness to the value
of life and pray silently for an end to abortion. Please join us
as we attend this life-saving event on LaGrange Road (96th Avenue)
in front New China Buffet in Orland Park. To allow time for distribution
of signs, plan to arrive by 2:00 PM.
HOLY NAME SOCIETY
The Holy Name Society is again selling the Entertainment Coupon
Books. This year it is $25.99 a book and contains more discounts.
The Holy Name earns $5.00 per book sold. See Norm Cole, Lee Palys,

MINISTRY OF CARE TRAINING PROGRAM

VOCATION RETREAT FOR WOMEN
You are invited to a weekend retreat for single women to discern
if God is calling you to Religious Life. Learn about Religious Life
with time to reflect and share with others who are also searching.
Retreats are from Friday night to Sunday noon, September 23-25,
October 14-16 and October 21-23, given by the Sisters of the Holy
Cross, at St. Mary's Notre Dame, Indiana.
For more registration and more information email maryssong1@aol.com
and www.maryssong or call (574) 284-5998.
THE WOMEN'S CENTER
As a pregnancy help center, each year we serve approximately 5,000
women. We can not do this without the help of many people. Our annual
Walk for Life will be on Saturday, September 10 from 10 AM to 1
PM at two great locations - Lake Katherine Nature Preserve in Palos
Heights and North Park Village Nature Center on the northwest side
of Chicago. Both locations offer trails, gardens, a nature enter
and free parking. For more information including brochure, maps,
and pledge sheets or to sponsor a walker, phone (773) 794-4771.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES
Catholic Charities South Suburban Regional Office needs volunteers
to help provide services at their location (16100 Seton Drive in
South Holland). The work hours are flexible - weekdays - 8:30 AM
to 4:30 PM. If you can help, please call (708) 333-8379.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES
Religious Education classes will begin on Sept. 25, from 9:00 -
10:30AM each Sunday. Registration for classes will be on Sept. 18,
2005 in the parish office. If you can not register at that time
please call, (708) 331-8400 and arrange a time to register your
child. All children that are not attending Catholic Schools should
attend CCD classes. The fee will remain at $30.00 per child. If
you do not have the fee, register your child anyway. We all understand
that there are times in one's life when finances are tight. No child
will be denied a religious education because of funds.
MARKHAM LUTHERAN SCHOOL
Markham Lutheran's Preschool will begin classes on September 6,
2005 at 9:00 AM. If you have a 2 to 5 year old child you would like
to register or more information, please call (708) 331-4885 or contact

WHAT'S YOUR CATHOLIC IQ?
The answers to last week's questions were: 1. (a); 2 (a); 3. (c);
4. (d); 5. (b);.6 (d); 7 (c)
Questions for this week are about the glorious mysteries of the
Most Holy Rosary:
1. If you were to say all fifteen decades of the most holy rosary
in the order of the sorrowful mysteries first, then the joyful mysteries
and the glorious mysteries, will the events that you have meditated
on follow in chronological sequence through the Bible? (a) yes;
(b) no
2. What is the correct way to describe how a Catholic should pray
the rosary? (a) meditating on the mysteries and praying to God,
through His mother's intercession; (b) concentrating totally on
the words of the prayers being said; (c) praying to the Blessed
Virgin personally to use her own powers; (d) using a certain way
to gain worldly favors from God.
3. What best describes where the Blessed Virgin's great power of
intercession with God originates? (a) from being a Saint; (b) from
being Queen of Angels; (c) from her assumption into Heaven; (d)
Her Immaculate Conception and from being the mother of Jesus and
from her holy life.
4. The glorious mystery is the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.
Which of the following is not a way that Jesus spent His time on
earth after His resurrection? (a) completing that part of His mission
He had determined to do in His human form; (b) proving His resurrection
to a disciple who doubted the event; (c) associating with those
close to Him; (d) showing Himself to His crucifiers to show that
they had achieved the opposite of what they were trying to do.
5. The second glorious mystery is the Ascension of Jesus into Heaven.
Which of the following events did Jesus promise as the next step
in the Divine plan? It is recorded in the Bible as following Jesus'
Ascension. (a) the physical building of the place of worship; (b)
the disciples immediately rushed to preach the word of God publicly;
(c) the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles; (d) the conversion
of Saint Paul.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
This week's Gospel message talks about Saint Peter's refusal to
believe that Jesus had to suffer, be killed, and on the third day
rise. There is a little bit of Peter in all of us. We often want
our Christian journey to be an easy ride, free from fear and disappointment.
Let us pray this week for the strength and courage to bear our crosses
and follow Christ faithfully.
