INTERCESSION FOR LIFE
For the sick and the suffering, and especially those near death, that the wisdom of those who suffer, and the value of their lives, might be treasured by all.
To stand with others and keep vigil while they suffer and die is the greatest gift of love a human being can experience. It also provides the greatest opportunity to learn. Those who suffer and those preparing to die have much to teach the healthy and the living about the mystery of our humanity and the dignity that is ours through our relationship with God.
Archbishop John J. Myers, Pastoral Letter "Whether in Life or in Death, we Are the Lord's" September 8, 2005

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
In today's Gospel, Jesus' words drive out unclean spirits. This is a small glimpse into the power of the word of God. Jesus is showing us how God can break down barriers. He is letting us know that the Kingdom of Heaven is for all people. God welcomes and loves every person.
Jesus' first concern is the well-being of others. He reaches out and preaches the Good News to all people. In today's Gospel we hear that Good News. In what we do every day, we share that Good News with others.
Wonderful God,
Help us to show others how wonderful you are by reaching out to them with simple kindness, especially to `those who need to feel loved and accepted.
Amen.
