THANK YOU
Sr. Catherine and Sr. Lou would like to thank the parish for purchasing a new refrigerator for the convent. The one that was replaced served us well for 22 years. There were also some plumbing problems that needed to be fixed.
Dear Parishioners,
Everything over here is in tip top shape. Hope for your sake it stays that
way. Our new fridge is so neat and convenient and the sink drain works like a
charm.
Many, many thanks. We truly appreciate your kindness to us!
Love,
Sr. Catherine and Sr. Lou

BROKEN WINDOWS
We have had to repair several church windows lately due to vandalism. The church would greatly appreciate any information that can be provided to us as to whom is responsible for these mishaps. Not only is the cost to repair the windows a strain on our meager finances, it is very difficult to find glass that matches what has already been used in the other windows. The parish would like to thank an anonymous donor who paid half the cost of the glass for the repair of the windows so far. We must still purchase matching glass when we find a place that sells it. In the mean time we are adding extra protection to the windows by installing a plexiglass outer layer and then the window glass.

HOPE COMMUNITY SERVICES
Dear Rev. Altman,
Please extend our gratitude to the ladies of St. Gerard's Women's Guild for the very generous donation in support of the programs at Hope Community Services.
You can be assured that the funds will be used wisely to assist low income families in our community who are faced with unanticipated emergencies that threaten them with hunger, eviction, foreclosure, or the loss of essential utilities.
Thank you again, and please call upon us should anyone in your parish be in need of our help.
Best wishes,
Anne Brady (Executive Director)

A LETTER FROM THE CARDINAL
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The Church rejoices always in the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In this local Church which is the Archdiocese of Chicago, I hold each of you in my heart as I share with each of you the Catholic faith "which comes to us from the apostles." (Roman Canon) Each of us is on a path of continuous conversion to the Lord in his Body, the Church. Because the soul of the Church is the Holy Spirit, we are one. Because we are one, the actions of each affect the lives of all.
I hope that the unity that is the gift of the Holy Spirit will not be weakened and our spiritual fervor not diminished.
I have reason for hope in the reports from many parishes that participation in the life of the Church is deeper and generosity to the mission of the Church is greater. I thank all those who contributed to the great success of the Annual Catholic Appeal this year, without which not only the ministry but the very mission of the Church would suffer.
All of you are in my prayers, that the Holy Spirit may preserve us in unity and let us together taste the joy that is the sign of God's presence to his people.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Francis Cardinal George

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
On the day we were baptized in the name and power of the Most Holy Trinity, we became Christ for others. We can draw strength from that event.
Listening to the words of Moses in the first reading, we are reminded of all God has done for us. Moses was reminding the Israelites of what God had done for them for they had fallen into a pattern of forgetfulness. On this Trinity Sunday, perhaps we need this kind of reminder too. Just as the Israelites worshipped false gods, we, too can fall into the same trap. Today's feast stands as a reminder to us that there is one God who is Creator, Redeemer, and Holy Spirit. As we listen to the words of Moses, Saint Paul, and Saint Matthew, let us call to mind the actions of God in our own lives and give praise and honor to the One who made us, redeemed us, and remains with us always.

Loving God, you are the giver of every good gift.
Hear the prayers of your people.
Strengthen us to live as disciples of your Son,
Jesus Christ, through the power of the Spirit.
You are one God forever and ever.
Amen.
